Universal Double Standards
Prostitution is illegal in Iraq. According to Mohammed, a typical prison sentence for women convicted is three to four months in jail, but their customers are rarely, if ever, arrested.
May Allah (swt) forgive us for not fulfilling our responsibility of caring for Wedad, her family and the thousands of others in similar situations.

This is absolutely disgusting. Thank you for sharing it with the world. That video on CNN is gut-wrenching, and it actually makes me sick to my stomach. This only further proves why we as Muslims need to understand our deen better, and educate the men and women. When a woman is widowed, she should be equipped with a skill set to be able to fend for herself -- even if she's just getting by. What's going to happen to "Wedad" and her children? She has daughters! This is unbelievable. Obviously, as a Muslim I don't condone what she is doing -- but then again, in times of desperation, none of us can really say what lengths we would or wouldn't go to - to feed our children. Thank you for sharing this. It is something that people really need to see.
